Silicon Valley’s Real-World Lab for Paving Innovation
Building the Future of Infrastructure with Deep Tech & AI
We bridge the gap between simulation and reality, providing deep tech teams with active Northern California job sites to test AI and autonomous systems in the heat of the real world.
Asphalt Testing Focus Areas
- Autonomous Paving & Grading Robots: Real terrain validation for autonomous systems operating on fresh and aged asphalt surfaces.
- Computer Vision QA on Live Surfaces Test your vision models against real dust, glare, heat shimmer, and variable surface textures.
- 3D Infrastructure Scanning & Printing Active job sites with LiDAR compatible environments and variable grade conditions.
- LiDAR & GPS Validation in Field Conditions Calibrate your sensors against real-world interference equipment vibration, RF noise, and California sun.

Validation Report
Your Hardware Doesn’t Belong in a Lab.
Construction hardware fails differently than software predicts. Sensors drift in 100°F heat. Dust clogs vision models trained on clean datasets. Vibration kills calibration. GPS bounces off equipment steel. At We Love Paving, we open our active paving operations across Northern California to Deep Tech teams ready to find out what their machines are actually made of on a real job, with real crews and real data.
Live Work Sites
We run commercial and residential paving projects across the Bay Area, Sacramento Valley, and Central Coast parking lot reconstruction, asphalt overlays, mill-and-fill, ADA ramp construction, sealcoating, and new base preparation. Your hardware deploys alongside our crews, running real equipment at production pace, not beside a traffic cone in a parking lot.
Industry Expertise
Direct feedback from veteran operators and civil engineers with decades in the field. We speak both asphalt and API CSLB-licensed contractors who understand grade tolerances and compaction rates, working alongside your engineering team directly on site. When your algorithm sees something our crew doesn’t, that’s not a false positive. That’s the data that matters.
The Deployment Roadmap
Four stages. Zero bureaucracy. Real Northern California asphalt.
1
Tech Alignment:
Rapid specs & safety vetting.
We review your hardware specs, safety protocols, and data requirements. We assign the right project type for your test objectives.
2
Site Match:
Precise environmental targeting.
We select an active job site in Northern California that matches your test conditions surface type, crew density, equipment mix, and climate.
3
Field Test:
Production-pace deployment.
Your hardware deploys alongside our crews. Our operators provide ground truth feedback in real time. You collect the data no simulation can generate.
4
Validation:
Data-backed field reporting.
Joint analysis of field results. We document findings, flag anomalies, and co-sign your validation report. Ready for your Series A deck or your university thesis.
Built for the Teams Building the Future
We actively partner with organizations bridging the sim-to-real gap. From high-fidelity data collection to full-scale autonomous deployment, we provide the physical infrastructure that lab simulations cannot replicate.
Deep Tech Startups
Pre-seed to Series B teams with hardware in hand and a deployment roadmap. We provide the operational “sandbox” and industrial-grade infrastructure so you can focus on the breakthrough.
University Research Labs
Stanford, Berkeley, UC Davis, and beyond. If your doctoral or post-doc research requires high-stakes field validation, we are your site partner. We value academic rigor and welcome co-authorship on field studies.
AI & Vision Platforms
Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or specialized teams training models on infrastructure data. Our job sites generate the raw, labeled, ground-truth datasets dust, glare, and vibration included that you simply cannot buy or synthesize.
Corporate R&D Divisions
Engineering teams at Caterpillar, John Deere, Trimble, or Leica. If you need a controlled yet real-world environment in California to stress-test sensors or new machinery, we run the site you run the data.
Enter the Sandbox
Tell us about your technology and what you’re trying to prove in the field. We review every proposal within 48 hours. No NDA required to start the conversation.
We’ve partnered with teams from TRL 4 through TRL 8. If you’re not sure where your project sits, apply anyway we’ll tell you honestly whether our sites are the right match, and if not, we’ll point you in the right direction.

Once your safety protocols are approved during the “Tech Sync,” we can typically have your team on a live job site within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your specific environmental requirements.
Safety is non-negotiable. All field access is governed by a Liability Agreement in compliance with Cal/OSHA (Title 8 CCR). Your hardware must operate without interfering with the safety of our crews or the operation of heavy machinery.
No. We can discuss high-level objectives and site availability freely. If the partnership moves into proprietary hardware integration or sensitive data sharing, we can execute a mutual NDA or review yours.
You do. You retain full ownership of your sensor data, logs, and model outputs. We only ask for the right to use non-proprietary imagery for our innovation documentation, unless otherwise specified in our agreement.
We offer flexible models. For early-stage startups and university labs, we often work on a resource-exchange basis. For large-scale corporate R&D or long-term data collection, we provide custom quotes based on the level of operational support required.
