ABOUT THIS PROJECT
Paving Solutions for the Chinese American International School Project
Thompson Building Constructions (TBC) collaborated on a comprehensive paving project at the Chinese American International School, which involved multiple paving solutions to address the property’s needs.
Paving Solutions Considered:
-
Patching in deteriorated areas
- Focused on heavy alligator cracking, potholes, and loose gravel.
- Required careful leveling to prevent water accumulation and further damage.
-
Two-inch grinding overlay
- Removed the top two inches of deteriorated asphalt and replaced it with new material.
- Provided a smoother surface and extended the pavement’s longevity.
-
Full removal and replacement
- Completely removed and replaced asphalt in certain areas.
- Allowed for better water redirection, improved drainage, and corrected slopes.
Executed Work:
The final project included a mix of the above solutions:
✅ New asphalt paving in critical sections.
✅ Patching in select areas to reinforce weak spots.
✅ Sealcoating and crack filling to protect the pavement.
✅ Restriping of parking lots, roads, and sports courts for clear traffic and pedestrian guidance.
✅ ADA-compliant improvements, including curbs, ramps, and cross-hatching for accessibility.
